EVP Town Hall Meeting 1 Feedback Summary Comments

At the EVP first Town Hall meeting, there was a comment sheet available for people to fill out and to make comments on the process and to get ideas expressed which might not have had a chance to be said.

The EVP Organizing committee got together and typed in the comments so that they could be available on the website.

Here are the comments from 97 people (out of around 300) who attended the meeting.

Where: Boys & Girls Club, 1112 NW Circle Blvd, Corvallis
When: Wednesday June 7th
Time: Doors open at 5:30 pm, event starts at 6:00 pm
To Register: Click on the link below

https://secure.oregonstate.edu/ocse/register.php?event=135

The June 7th Town Hall meeting will be an interactive affair. Following brief presentations by Economic Vitality Partnership (EVP) representative Pat Lampton and the consultant team led by Jason Robertson of Barney & Worth, Inc., participants will have an opportunity to share their ideas in small group work sessions, participate in an audience-wide electronic polling session, and evaluate and rank a range of action concepts developed by several Focus Area Teams. Preliminary ideas address business retention and recruitment, workforce development, housing and education needs, integrating sustainability into economic development activities and many more topics. Of course, there will also be feedback forms for those who prefer to be less “interactive” when sharing their thoughts.

Purpose of the EVP Strategic Plan

The EVP is a consortium of sixteen economic development, government and social service organizations working together to keep Benton County a vibrant place to live, work and play.
As part of that charge, the EVP has a goal of creating a unified strategic plan to act as an umbrella for economic development services in Benton County, creating greater collaboration and eliminating redundancy wherever possible. Using the Vision 2020, as a starting place, the EVP is working to devise a plan to attain the attributes provided on the Economic Vitality page.
The process outlined by the Strategic Planning Team, includes the following:

EVP Strategic Economic Development Plan

John, per your suggestion, I have attached several documents under "EVP Organizing" as a means of both getting used to the website and disseminating some preliminary information to interested parties. (If you're reading this at the Wed., Feb. 15 Community Meeting: Hello everyone!)

The attached documents include:

+ A summary table (Excel) outlining our review of existing Corvallis-Benton County related economic development strategiees, reports, etc.

+ A preliminary data profile based on ESRI life-mode groupings, prepared by my economist Eric Hovee. Some people love this, others - like me - are adverse to labels. However, the fact remains that many site locaters use this kind of data to make decisions. In any event, the report confirms you guys really are unique down there!
